Lourenço Zacarias hold a MSc in Molecular Biology from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban-South Africa. He is a native of Inhambane Province, Mozambique and employed by the Instituto Nacional de Investigação Pesqueira Maputo-Mozambique in 2007. Currently is been involved in the research programme in collaboration with the EAF-Nansen Programme in collaboration with fisheries research institutions from the region. He enrolled for his PhD in 2019 at the University of the Western Cape, South Africa. His research focus to assess the local and global connectivity of three Myctophid fishes (Diaphus hudsoni, D. ostenfeldi and Lampanyctus australis). He plans to further his research to examine the trophodynamics of mesopelagic fishes using stable isotope and stomach content analyses, as well as fatty acids analyses.
