Lionel Bigot has a broad range of experience in marine coastal zone management in the southwest Indian Ocean. Over the past 15 years he has managed a number of projects on tropical environments, mainly conducted at the Marine Regional Agency in Réunion as scientific leader of the environmental department. He works in several areas related to integrated coastal zone management and the Water Framework Directive of the European Union, focusing on an ecological approach and bio-indicators.
As a member of WIOMSA since 2010, and someone who has attended all WIOMSA symposia for the past ten years, he would like to make a further contribution to the Association. Specifically, as a senior researcher, he would like to get involved as a coral reef trainer for young scientists in the southwest Indian Ocean region.
