Deidre de Vos is WIOMSA’s as the MPA Project Coordinator under the Blue Nature Alliance project for Marine Protected Areas (MPAs).

She is a marine conservation project coordinator and a science communicator. She has worked as a researcher in the academic and non-profit space in the marine conservation field for the past five years.

Deidre especially enjoys translating technical outputs in interesting and inclusive ways, which are then used by different media outlets. Story mapping is one of her favourite pastimes! She is a spatial thinker and has authored several publications on systematic conservation planning and mapping related to projects in the WIO region. Deidre hopes to assist WIOMSA in the expansion of MPAs, including Locally Managed Marine Areas throughout the WIO region.
