The Nairobi Convention and WIOMSA are pleased to announce the launch of the Western Indian Ocean Marine Protected Areas Outlook, a new publication from UNEP / Nairobi Convention and WIOMSA that examines the current and future status of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) on a regional level. It documents progress made by countries in the WIO region  towards the achievement of SDG 14.2, in which countries committed to protecting 10% of their marine and coastal areas by 2020 and provides lessons and opportunities to increase momentum for achieving post-2020 GBF targets.
