Art Competition for primary and secondary school pupils in the coastal regions in Tanzania: Call for submission of artworks
The Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association (WIOMSA) in collaboration of the Institute of Marine Science (IMS) and the Department of Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries (DASF) both of the University of Dar es Salaam, the Tanzania Fisheries Research Institute (TAFIRI) and the Nairobi Convention are organizing the 10th Scientific Symposium that will be held from the 30th October to the 4th of November 2017 at the Julius Nyerere International Conference Center, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The 10th symposium is organizing an art competition for pupils in primary and secondary schools in the coastal regions of Tanzania namely Tanga, Pwani, Dar es Salaam, Lindi and Mtwara as well as Unguja and Pemba Islands. The theme of this competition is: “Importance of the coastal and marine environment to Tanzania”. The ocean is of such importance to your communities and your livelihood so use your fantasy, creativity and knowledge to help others understand your views on the importance of the coastal and marine environment through your art work. Draw, paint, use computer-assisting software or compose a song to express your views.
Students are invited to present on the theme using their creativity. Presentations can be through different media: either drawings (including cartoons) or song compositions.

Shindano la Sanaa kwa wanafunzi wa shule za msingi na sekondari za mikoa ya ukanda wa pwani Bara and Visiwani: Wito wa Kuwasilisha kazi za Ubunifu wa Sanaa
Chama cha Wanayansi wa Elimu Bahari ukanda wa Magharibi mwa Bahari ya Hindi (WIOMSA) kwa ushirikiano kati ya WIOMSA, Taasisi ya Sayansi Bahari (IMS) na Idara ya Sayansi Akua na Teknolojia ya Uvuvi (DASF) zote kutoka Chuo Kikuu cha Dar es Salaam, Taasisi ya Utafiti wa Uvuvi Tanzania (TAFIRI) na Mkataba wa Kimataifa wa Uhifadhi, Usimamizi na Uendelezaji wa Mazingira ya Bahari na ya Ukanda wa Pwani wa Magharibi mwa Bahari ya Hindi (Mkataba wa Nairobi), kinaandaa Kongamano la 10 la Kisayansi. Kongamano hilo litafanyika kuanzia tarehe 30 Oktoba hadi tarehe 4 Novemba katika Ukumbi wa Kimataifa wa Mikutano wa Julius Nyerere ulioko Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Katika Kongamano hili la 10 kutakuwa na mashindano ya kazi za sanaa kwa wanafunzi wa shule za msingi na sekondari za mikoa ya ukanda wa pwani wa Bahari ya Hindi. Kwa upande wa Tanzania Bara itahusisha mikoa ya Tanga, Pwani, Dar es Salaam, Lindi na Mtwara na kwa Zanzibar itahusisha shule zilizopo Unguja na Pemba. Dhamira ya mashindano hayo ni: “Umuhimu wa Mazingira ya Pwani na Bahari kwa Tanzania”. Bahari ni muhimu sana kwa jamii zetu na kwa ustawi wa maisha yako. Kwa hiyo tumia mawazo yako, ubunifu wako na maarifa uliyo nayo katika kuwasaidia wengine waelewe mawazo yako kuhusiana na umuhimu wa mazingira ya ukanda wa pwani na ya bahari kupitia kazi yako ya sanaa. Chora, paka rangi, tumia program za kompyuta za uchoraji au eleza mawazo yako hayo kwa kutunga wimbo.
Wanafunzi watumie ubunifu wao wenyewe kueleza maoni yao juu ya dhamira husika. Uwasilishaji wa ubunifu huo unaweza kufanyika kwa njia zifuatazo: michoro (zikiwemo katuni/vibonzo) au utunzi wa nyimbo.
