Randall is a marine ecologist and analyst currently based in Kenya and working for CORDIO East Africa. He holds a BSc. in Marine Biology and Fisheries and experience as a certified PADI open water diver. As a researcher, he has worked on various projects and notably the Ocean Health Index (OHI) project that seeks to evaluate the health of marine ecosystems and resource use while delivering benefits to humans. An ardent fan of all things data, he is involved in data analysis and management, reporting, and is particularly keen to tell data driven stories that can expose matters to the world leading to action by stakeholders and all affected parties to bring about positive change. Randall has been part of the innovation train associated with the triple helix, developing his 1st children’s educational and play kit as a product nested under the sustainable development goals (SDG) lab that seeks to promote change and instill the adoption of solid waste best practices teaching children to be the agents and drivers of change leading to sustainable cities and communities and improved protection of marine and terrestrial biodiversity and ecosystems through reduced impacts from solid waste pollution. Close to his heart is the need to empower marginalized groups in the community through efforts that will equally protect the environment. While not enjoying all things ‘in-water’, he is keen to touch a heart in the smallest way possible to bring a smile to a child’s face and enjoys trying out his hand in the hot kitchen!
