Low-cost wind mill launched in Mozambique

On 8 July 2009, The Clean Energy Initiative switched on their 350-watt micro wind turbine at Morrebue (Northern Mozambique). The 12-metre high turbine will be used to provide stand-alone electrical energy for the ‘Pemba Open 2009’ Kite-surfing tournament to be held at Morrebue on 30th July until 3rd August.

The Pemba-made micro wind turbine will be used to demonstrate the benefits of wind power at various coastal, island and inland sites within the Cabo Delgado province over the next 12 months.
