New Certification Programme for MPA Professionals Launched
Deadline for application: 23 May 2008 (Please note that the deadline has been extended)
The programme is the first ever certification programme for marine protected area (MPA) professionals in the Western Indian Ocean region. It has been developed by the Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association (WIOMSA) and the Coastal Resources Center, University of Rhode Island (CRC/URI) in partnership with regional organizations.
The main objective of the programme is to bring the knowledge and skills of those working in MPAs to a level of professional standard. Initial funding support is provided by the United States Agency for International Development and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency.
The first Call for Application for Level 2 Certification has been announced.
